Klemtu 2006

I am quickly (not really) recovering from my year in India. I actually shouldn't say recovering because really...India is home. I feel connected to it even more so than I feel connected to Beaverton. I miss the cows in the middle of the road. I miss the ACCS staff and students. I miss the Kadwells. I miss...I miss...I miss, I miss it more than anything and cannot wait to be back in India someday. But God is giving me more opportunities to be used by Him and for Him.

I recently recieved an email from a friend of mine at Village. The heading was simply titled "Klemtu". This brought major joy to my day. You see, I have been aching to go back to Klemtu ever since I left the small Island of about 430 people. The email was asking me to join on not just one, but two trips to Klemtu this year. I am majorly stoked about this.

The two trips are May 4-8 and July 29-August 9. I would have different roles on both teams. One would give me a chance to be a part of a kids club. The other would let me staff a group of High School students. This is something I am very passionate about. I want to see Middle school and High school students aware and caring for whats going on in the world around them and also trying to help fight the injustices that are in this world. This would be a great opportunity to begin to see this passion begin to come to fruition.

I would ask that all of you fellow bloggers and readers to be praying for me in these next couple of weeks and months. I do not wish to jump the gun on this. I want the Lord to give me a clear vision for what to do.

Klemtu is on the top left of the map

Wedding crasher

One of my friends is getting married this summer. And he has chosen all of his groomsmen. But there is a problem. I am not even sure that this friend is aware of the problem though. You see one of the dudes he has chosen to be his groomsmen is not on board with this wedding. In fact he very blantantly is against it. He has even said that once the wedding is over, he and this friend of mine will no longer be friends.

So here is my issue with this. They both are friends. Have been for a very long time. And yet I believe they are both slipping away from the friends they used to be. But as a groomsmen you are publicly saying I agree with this wedding. I believe in my two friends getting married. And I am fully supportive of this marriage. But this one friend is not supportive at all, in fact he is pretty much jealous of this wedding (in my opinion).

So what do I do? Do I tell my buddy who is getting married about his unsupportive friend? Do I confront the unsupportive friend?(this I have tried to do a little bit) Or do I sit back and watch this bomb ignite, light, and go off in the next couple of months...

HMMM...

Wedding crashers!!! Hate em'

Broken Oreo Love

I have seen you on my table
By that perfect glass of milk
And so I reached out to hold you
But my arm swung and the milk I spilled
I think you'll taste delicious
Just by the way you look
For you I would clean dishes
Because my appetite you took
As I look closer to your shape
I find tht you are broken
Split and cracked are your inside
But you I have chosen
So now I will hold you
Eat you and be renewed

In Flight Movies

Okay, so on my recent trip home to Oregon from Singapore, I got to see a grip of good movies. Here is the list and a little blurb about each one...I recommend them all.

Walk the Line:
This movie was excellent. Phoenix and Witherspoon are absolutely brilliant together. I laughed, sang along, gasped, cringed, and even cried watching this movie. I do believe however that the movie ended WAY to soon. It would have been nice to see the entire Cash story, not just the crappy side of his life. Perhaps we petition and get them to make a sequal...Chant with me now...sequal sequal sequal...

The Greatest Game ever Played:
Shia LaBeouf brings this story to life. His perfomance is one to remember for a while. I usually would not be one to front a golf movie or anything having to do with the sport, but this movie has to be seen. And when you see it, you will fall in love with the characters and just possibly the game of golf as well. There are many great perfomances in this movie and only a few lackluster players. I honestly had tears streaming from my blue eyes as the credits rolled. Touching and inspiring are the two words that come to mind.

Pride and Prejudice:
One word...Kiera Knightley is: Hot! Kidding. What a great flick. Although this is definately a lopsided win for best chick flick of the year, I still enjjoyed almost every breathtaking moment of the movie. Donald Sutherland made me laugh pretty hard a few times in this movie, he has come a long way since "Kelly's Heros". Honestly and to be completely blunt, this movie didn't do much for me. The shots were magnificant. The actors, pretty darn good. And yet I am not sure that the movie gives the book any inkling of justice at all. Some may be disagreeing right now...that's fine...I am not here to win friends...I am here to state my ever prideful opinion.

The Myth:
Jackie Chan starred in and directed this film. I thouroughly enjoyed this film. Fun and light entertainment. Nothing is going to jump out at you and make you say, "Wow what a great film, never saw that move before!" I personally enjoyed the parts that were done in India. There is an indian actress in the film to, but I can't remember her name at the moment. Overall...if you have a little time to spare and don't mind reading subtitles (accept the parts shot with the Indian actors), I think you just might enjoy this movie.

That's all for this weeks movie review. I hope to see a few more here in the next month or so...

Check back soon

Aching for Home

I woke up this morning (28th) and watched the Blazers win.

At 11:15 I have a dentist appointment to put the crown on my right, lower two, back teeth. All my bags are pack…I’m ready to go. And man! are they heavy. Hope that doesn’t pose a problem later…

Leah, drove me out to the dentist. She had some shopping to do close by. Samire (dentist name) literally popped the crown on and cemented it in, in about 5 minutes. Soon I was getting last instructions on caring for my teeth, a handshake and “make sure you go for a six month checkup!”…

Leah and I went shopping for a little while. I bought some new shirts for Gujarat! Man do I feel spiffy. I also bought a little something for my 7th and 10th grade boys at home. I miss them all so much. Can’t wait to hang with you all.

In the afternoon, Leah and I finished the fourth season of Gilmore Girls. We watched all four season in about 2 week’s time. I am now addicted to the show! Rumor has it Kristen has season 5 in Gujarat. (I have now seen this and know it to be true.)

I don’t think I have ever been this nervous for a plane flight. I was literally sweating in the air conditioned car. The main thing was the luggage. I went to check my luggage and of course the two big suitcases combined are 32kg overweight. Luckily I didn’t have to pay a 2,800 rupee charge, because the Spott’s were with me and only had ONE suitcase. Problem solved. Praise God.

The flight was a relaxing one. I have never flown this airline before. The seats are pleather, spacious, and they served us Subway for dinner. Oh yeah, the fire escape row was awesome. I could stretch my legs out completely and not even touch the seat in front of me! How rad is that???

We got to the airport in Gujarat (I know you have all been patiently waiting for this part) and new emotions hit me. I had just gotten some closure in Hyderabad, but now I was to open up a whole new can of emotions in Gujarat. “This is hard.” Anyways, we grabbed the luggage and began walking outside. Leah and the kids had gone ahead to see Kevin. The Spott’s and I came out a little later. I approached Kevin with a smile of relief. We hugged and said, “It’s good to see you.”

Then Kevin said, “We’re almost ready to go, we’re just waiting for one more person.” It was at this point all the dots connected and I knew that my father was here and standing beside me.

Shock…trying to drop luggage quick enough…”hello”…hug (not yer typical guy hug)…tears…joy!!!

I have wanted this to happen all year long. And I am so excited and grateful to get to share these last few days in India with my father. Thank you all for this wonderful surprise. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers.
