First Pick

Today, on the day of my parents 25th wedding day, the Portland Trailblazers have recieved and won the number one pick in the 2007 NBA draft! I am so excited and cannot wait to see who we pick.

The Oden-Durant debate begins.

Personally I chose Oden...he just spells out championship for me.

Today Amber went to look at wedding dresses! This freaked me out a little. I hate the fact that I have no clue what it will look like or how much it will cost. Oh well I have to get used to that.

The main thing is...She is looking at wedding dresses!!!! Yay and Wow and such!!!

A Mariners Game

Amber and I went to this afternoons Mariners game against the San Diego Padres. We got tickets through my work at the Baseball place. So, we drove all the way up to Seattle. We love road trips. And we attended the game. We were lucky enough to have club seats. Like almost private but not! Just underneath all of the box seats. And the field was like right there...right in front of us!!

Felix Hernandez was good...just not good enough, but it was fun to see one of the good pitchers in the game today.

The game itself was lame...but we had fun.

I hope to go again soon. We enjoyed it. I personally got 46 enjoyment out of the whole experience.

The reason for such a low enjoyment level is because of what happened after the game. See, we were parked in the nice parking garage right next to the field. Yea, free tickets for that too! The one with the skywalk straight to SafeCo Field. Anyway, there was an accident on level three after the game. We just happened to be on level...six! So we not so patiently waited for about an hour to leave the lot. And man were we happy to leave that garage!!!

Then we hit traffic on the 5. And got to see a four car pile up just as we got onto the 5. So, the traveling was slow for a time. Actually, it was slow for a long time!! But being the patient people we are (not)we waited nicely and drove home in peace...err I mean the RAIN! I love the rain. I love taking trips to Washington. I love Baseball games. I love the woman who was with me the entire day!

Thanks Amber for another wonderful road trip!

The Rock Creek Tavern

Went to the Rock Creek Tavern tonight. Enjoyed some great food. Great company...Katy and Renjy and Amber. Had some good laughs. Good thoughts. Good times. And heard some really good music.

I had never been there before...and I really liked it. Liked my beer. Liked my tator tots and honey-musterd and ranch. But I especially like the music. There was a live band. The Red Rubber Band. A Five piece. Acoustic guitar, Viola, flute, percussion, and saxophone. These guys had an Edwin McCain, Dave Matthews band, and a little bit of folk wrapped into them. The four of us really were into the music and did not want to leave when the bill came. I hope to hear these guys again, cuz they be gooooooooooood (Bruce Almighty Style)!!!

Shrekthe third the not so good!

Went and saw Shrek the Third tonight with about 60 middle school students. I sat on the floor with Amber. There were no seats left when we got to the theater. Apparently Century had sold more tickets than seats to this particular showing. This may add to the lameness and nastiness of my review.

The story has no point. It has no end. It has no NOTHING. The second Shrek was good. This Shrek...not so good. The humor was just not there for me this time. Nothing that stood out. Nothing great. Nothing new. Just old Shrek getting a few twisted tricks and gags pulled into it. I hate to say it, but it has run its course. One of the things that turned me off was Justin Timberlake is in the movie. Yea yea...he is hot right now. The thing is, he is a horrible actor...and his character is really lame! Nothing funny about him. I will say however that there is one scene that really made me laugh. The Merlin scenes are funny and that is about it. I laughed a little, but not much.

Let me know if you laughed too. Or didn't laugh.

How to save a life

One of my favorite quotes from high school was said by one of my best friends Aaron Watts.

"I know CPR! I watch Baywatch!" (This being said in a swimming pool as someone was faking to submarine to the bottom of the pool and appear to give up on life itself. Then deciding life really is worth it and coming back to the surface only to cough and sputter and choke...and well you get the picture.)

Now for me this is really funny. Neither one of us watch that show. And the truth is even if you do or did watch that will not help you in a CPR situation or in any situation for that matter.

Why the quote? Why the stupid mention of Baywatch on my blog?

The reason folks is that today, yes, today! I spent four hours in a CPR training course. Never in my life have I been through one of these courses. The course was actually quite beneficial for me. Not only becuase I love to watch Grey's Anatomy, and learn about all of the different things that happen to people and how Docters can seem to miraculously save folks, but beacuse it helped me in a few areas of my spiritual and emotional life.

You see, I usually dread CLASS or anything that has to do with me possibly asnwering a question wrong. Today, however the roles inside my little insecure mind and the Batman (random I know) that I know I am deep down inside came alive! I would like to think I did good in the class. I learned a ton and am now ready to go save a life, or two or three. I now have a confidence in saving lives that I have never had before.

Now because of my training today and the little green card that says I passed the class, I am capable of saving a physical life. This kindove blows my mind a little. You see as a little dude I wanted to be a fireman and save peoples lives. God showed me a different plan though. I walked away from the idea of physical saving peoples lives and went in the direction of saving people emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Because of todays lessons I learned a few things. I was put here on this earth to shine. Yes, shine! The thought I am thinking here is that maybe I am not just supposed to cram and jam and peanut butter and jelly Christ into peoples lives. (wow, quick change in subject, am I really going here?)I think I have been sticking to one brand of bread and only one sandwich for a little while. Does that make sense? I mean sure I switch up the jellies and jams everynow and then...and crunchy or creamy comes into the picture, but in truth I am only making one sandwich daily. My point is this: today I figured out that I can make mulitple different sandwiches in this life. And you konw what? I can use different kinds of breads too.

Statistically speaking, (I have a few thoughts on statistics...maybe more on that in a different post.) when I look at the light and flame that I am. All the time supposbly representing Christ and who he is, I have to use a few different strategies and skills to be the most effective so as to accomplish being the brightest light I can be. Maybe I am making way to much out of this...and it is three in the morning, but I need to blog and need to get this out now.

Let us look at a Basketball player, say Brandon Roy or Larry Bird. Both of these guys had a huge array of weapons they could use on the ball court. Rebounds, Steals, Assists, Blocks, Threes, Dunks?, lay ins, free throws, leadership, jumpers and the list goes on! However, they choose only to be effective by shooting three pointers all day long. And perhaps they shoot a mesmorizing 80% from the field. They are still not contributing to the team at the highest possible level possible.

My idea is that I have lots of gifts, faults, dreams, talents, passions, etc that can be used to cause my flame to burn brighter. I want to burn brighter. I ache to burn brighter. Today I just added another area that I can burn brighter. Today I learned how to save a physical life. Trust me, it truly is a big deal. At least for me it is. Statistically speaking I may be no MVP, but maybe I could get the most improved ChristLight of the year award?

But then again, does God even care about statistics? HaHa...I think he laughs at statistics...and says, "sorry guys, but I have been batting a thousand for quite some time now...not sure why you are still keeping track." But we do keep track, because that is what this world does.

Statisticall speaking...I can save your life!

"I know CPR! I took the class!"

It has been a few years since Village has done a Musical. So what a great way to get back into the drama scene with this show. I look forward to inviting and seeing you all there!!

She's the one!

She is the one
There could be no other
No, not one
Cuz she is the one for me!

The one that I will spend the rest of my life with.
The one that I will come home to after a long days work.
The one that I will sing to when she is blue or happy.
The one that I will do anything for, no matter what.
The one that changed my life the day I met her.
The one that still causes me to go WOW! everytime I see her!
The one that I want!
The one that I dream of.
The one that will hold my hand and heart til the end of time
The one who will walk through this life with me.
The one who dance this dance of faith and mystery with me.
The one that I love.
The one that I will bend over backwords for.
The one that causes me to jumble my words in so many different ways.
The one who makes me smile even when I am cheesed!
The one I never want to be away from.
The one that I need.
The one who completes me in every way possible here on earth.
The one who is good for me.
The one who balances me out in the end.
The one who gives me wake up calls.
The one who I Miss.
The one that captured the breath in my lungs.
The one who I am crazy about.

I proposed on Sunday. If you wish to hear how it was done...Amber has a good post about it on her blog. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life. One that I will never forget. I am so excited to begin this next chapter in my life. I thank God that he has placed Amber in my life. And I am grateful that we will get to walk through the rest of this earthly life together.

Thanks for the encouragement and prayers and help and so much more. You are all so amazing! Please continue these things as Amber and I begin the next phase of our lives together.

Thanks for reading.
